This July, EGYM is launching a major ecosystem update engineered to drive member retention, expand training capabilities for health-conscious members, and eliminate friction across the entire fitness floor. Here is your deep dive into the upcoming features.

1. The new Longevity Programme

To directly support members looking to improve their BioAge and protect their long-term health, we are launching specialised longevity programmes.

These protocols are engineered for healthspan and functional mobility—ultimately driving long-term member retention.

  • Genius Longevity Goal: This holistic program intelligently optimises member workouts based on a scientifically proven formula for healthy ageing—balancing 50% cardio, 35% strength, and 15% flexibility.
  • Smart Strength Longevity Programme: Built on a sustainable, 4-phase progression, this programme utilises standard interval training, eccentric training, and explosive movements to maximise results. Because eccentric training delivers a high mechanical load with minimal metabolic and cardiovascular stress, members achieve significant strength and hypertrophy gains without over-exhausting their systems.
  • Smart Cardio Longevity Program: The cardiovascular component is split into two science-backed zones. One programme provides 30 minutes of steady-state Zone 2 training (which should make up 80% of cardio volume for mitochondrial efficiency), while the second delivers short, 45-second Zone 5 high-intensity intervals (to improve VO2max).

👉 This will be rolled out in stages between July 1-15, 2026.

2. EGYM Programmes update

We are fundamentally redesigning our EGYM programmes to shift the focus from training complexity to member consistency.

True progress for beginners and optimal circuit flow requires structured periodisation, not complex method switching. By simplifying these programs and removing high-friction training methods, we help members exercise with confidence and build lasting habits—significantly reducing drop-off rates.

This redesign allows us to clearly position EGYM as the highly guided, structured solution—ideal for beginners and any EGYM Circuit user who wants a fast, efficient, full-body workout with zero guesswork. Meanwhile, EGYM Genius AI and EGYM Pro cater to members seeking total freedom of choice and more training options on the open fitness floor, delivering the hyper-personalised flexibility and advanced periodisation that experienced lifters expect.

  • “Adaptive” and “Max Out” will remain unchanged

👉 This will be rolled out in stages between July 1-15, 2026.

Important: For members currently in an active program, the displayed name will update automatically with the July release. However, their underlying training structure will only change once they select their next program. This prevents unexpected mid-routine disruptions, eliminates member confusion, and ensures a seamless transition for your staff.

The new EGYM+ Smart Strength programmes represent a deliberate evolution with a clear focus. This one-pager explains the core vision behind the changes and why specific design decisions were made.

Who are these programmes built for?

The EGYM+ Smart Strength programmes are explicitly designed for beginners and circuit users—by far the largest user group on EGYM+. For this audience, habit formation and long-term adherence are key: the best training programme is always the one somebody actually sticks to. Structured progression beats variety of methods—not because variation lacks value, but because for beginners, it often creates a hurdle rather than added value.

Making sure progress remains tangible is no accident: the programmes are designed so users can see concrete progress between phases—whether that is increased weight, more repetitions, or shorter rest periods. This boosts motivation and makes progression easy to feel and track.

Why do the phases now use training method names?

The phase names (Standard, Eccentric, Explosive) directly describe the training method used in that specific phase. Previous terms such as "Robustness" caused confusion on the gym floor, and members and staff did not always understand what was actually being trained. The new names are more transparent, easier to explain, and make it instantly clear to trainers and members which methods are scheduled throughout the programme. The overarching goal—such as muscle building or weight loss—continues to be communicated at the programme level.

    Sports science foundation

The programmes have been meticulously developed based on sports science, with method variation integrated on two distinct levels.

    1. Across the full offering:

    • Standard, Eccentric, Explosive, and Isokinetic are all used, intelligently combined depending on the programme and phase.

    2. Within each individual programme:

    • Even where all phases stick to the same method, every phase follows a clear progression in intensity and/or volume—systematically adapting repetition counts, proximity to muscle failure, and cadence. Switching training methods is one way to handle periodisation, but it is not the only option.

Why was Isokinetic removed from most programmes?

This decision was driven directly by customer feedback. The distinct user interface often required guidance from gym staff, creating friction in daily operations. For beginners outside of a rehabilitation context, it offered no unique benefits that could not be achieved through other methods. Isokinetic remains a core part of the Rebuild programme—and users who want to use the method for a specific set can still select it manually before starting their set.

Why is Adaptive no longer included in the programmes?

Adaptive requires training experience and a willingness to push to complete muscle failure—neither of which can be assumed with beginners, making it unsuitable for this target group. However, Adaptive remains fully available on the machine: users wishing to apply it to a specific set can select it manually before their set.

Why are hold phases removed and time under tension per rep shortened?

Excessive time under tension frequently leads to over-fatigue and severe muscle soreness in beginners—both of which harm short-term motivation and long-term habit formation. The primary training stimulus originates from proximity to muscle failure, which is developed systematically through a four-phase periodisation. Isometric hold phases would add complexity and physical load without offering clear added value for this target group.

    What about experienced users?

Simplifying the EGYM+ programmes does not mean method depth and individualisation have disappeared—they live on in EGYM Pro Mode. Unlike Circuit Mode, Pro Mode is fully configurable manually: all training methods, including Adaptive and Isokinetic, as well as Max Out, are available without restriction.

Experienced users looking for an even more personalised experience will find it in EGYM Genius—an AI-driven training planner that builds tailored plans while leveraging the full method depth of Pro Mode.

    3. Coached workout: your plan on Smart Strength

For members receiving Trainer Plans or using Genius AI, the EGYM app now syncs directly with the machine. When a member taps "Start Workout" in the app and logs into a Smart Strength machine, the machine automatically loads their exact prescribed exercises, sets, reps, and training methods.

The machine dynamically calculates the required weight based on the member's strength test. This perfectly closes the loop between digital coaching and physical execution.

(Note: This is currently not available for training plans created by the member – except those with Genius AI.)

👉 This will be rolled out in stages between July 1-15, 2026.

    4. Frictionless machine logins & custom QR codes

We are drastically reducing login friction and empowering operators to drive upgrades directly from the fitness floor. Through the Business Suite, you can now select exactly which login mediums—phone, wristband, or card—are displayed as recommended options on Smart Strength and Fitness Hub screens, ensuring the on-screen interface perfectly matches your facility's actual setup.

Additionally, we are introducing highly configurable, dynamic QR codes on machine idle screens and access locks. These can be customised to link directly to your branded app download page, provide NFC wallet setup instructions, or seamlessly guide members to upgrade their EGYM memberships.

By delivering context-aware visual guidance right where the member stands, you eliminate login confusion and drive automated upsells without requiring staff intervention.

👉 This will be available from July 1, 2026.
